AD: 5 New Wire Wrapping Dvds!

I have 5 new wire wrapping dvds out. More dvds coming out this year. All techniques are great techniques to add to what you already know. Great for beginners. I even offer all the tools you need in a kit.

Glad you've done another drive-by posting, Matthew.

I'm still waiting for your info on the copyright for your 'vintage' images on the DVD you're selling.

Do stop a bit and make sure you're not using the newsgroup simply to spam your adverts.

DVD question -- I saw on some online news yesterday that one of the big movie studios is no longer going to release their movies in HD. Blu-Ray only. So are HD dvds going to be phased out, like beta vhs in the old days? I don't want to buy the wrong kind of player and get stuck with a bunch of dvds I can no longer use.

I realize i'm wayyyyyyyy off topic so please consider this as such, and only answer me if you want (or by email if you prefer). This is an area in which I am lost.

CNet.com has an interesting article dated Sept. 07 that you may want to read.

Your question is only off topic to this thread, It is an important question and you should create a new thread and maybe get greater participation. It seems that both formats are going to be backward compatible with current DVD formats but will not be compatible with each other. See the exception in the article.

Just for anyone who's interested, the Herringbone and that Interchangeable pendant can both be found free on the internet. One is one Eni's site, and I think the other was on Preston Reuther's site.

Maybe it's just me, but $25 for one pattern seems kind of steep.

I've found that learning visually is much easier than looking at pictures. This is one reason why I have the dvds out. My dvds are half the price than the $60 ones by Preston. I'm not twisting any arms. As far as the drive by posting comment... I don't post alot and am I'm not obligated to. Just because I don't post on a daily basis doesn't mean anything. Some people want to learn from me and some don't... it's not a big deal. I spent a lot of money on advertising, so don't think I spam all the message boards all the time. I post useful info when I am not busy with making stuff, shipping, daily paperwork, and fan mail.

No, but you're obligated to answer a direct question you avoided twice now.

Do you own the copyright to every single image you sell via your dvds?

I looked at the 'vintage' automobiles one, and they are photographs of cars. If you didn't take every single photo or get written permission from the photographer to use them you are violating copyrights.

As for the rest, do you own the originals of the 'vintage' images or have you harvested them from other sites without permission?

That's the issue that I would like answered, and am still waiting.

You ignored my 'fan mail' on the topic.

Cheers,

Not as useful as you'd like to think. I stand by my question, what's the status of the copyright ownership of the images on your DVDs.

I got the images from two publication companies for a fee. I have full rights and resell rights on these images. I created the dvds and got the copyrights on them. The only picture I stole was the picture of your beat up Chevy Nova. Don't beat yourself up Su, about how useful I seem to be on the boards. It's none of your concern.

Deary me, Matthew. What a charming, professional and friendly response. I love my Nova, you swine! You're making me weep with hurt and pain over your dismissal of what was once the finest street machine in the world!

Other than that, you're just making my point for me, thanks! ;-D I just love it when that happens.

You may not think it's my concern, but baby, you're just so wrong. It's not about little old Y O U. It's about your customers and their right to buy with confidence, knowing that the items being sold are gen-u-wine. And original.

See you in the funny papers, kiddo.

Not to cause trouble....BUT! not a big Preston fan ( puts me to sleep in 5 minutes ). At least his vids are for complete tutorials, He does the work ( note no purchased pictures ) AND!!!! HIS VIDS DO HAVE A GOOD RESALE VALUE!

Just my $.02

Hey Jim...

See the kind of crap I have to put up with. My business is all about me. I am a full time artist and have my business in many different areas of the jewelry industry. I cater to the people who want to see it hands on. I don't know what your beef is, over the photo dvds. It's frankly none of your business. I couldn't draw a stick figure to save my life. I work with many illustrators and artists with several different types of agreements. Su is just trying to be a negative nancy because I advertise on this board. Maybe Su just wants a free dvd.

you're being very negative about a person who's been part of rec crafts.beads for a while. A lot of us advertise here, and we don't usually get flak for it. Su doesn't deserve response like yours.

Aloha (and hope you have some idea what aloha means, and for this group I'm not even sure it's OK for me to say aloha as I have mostly been away myself),

Yeah, Matthew, I'd LOVE a dvd, the crows out in the field need something to frighten them away. Works a treat.

'Negative Nancy'? I'm just really amazed, did you work as the script writer for M*A*S*H, giving them advice on the dialogue for Frank Burns?

You have to put up with 'crap' as you so eloquently put it because you use newsgroups as sales venues, and don't participate or offer anything other than whining, self-promotion and self-serving rants. I do like your style of ranting though, feel free to keep on with it.... I'm waiting for what comes next. Nervous Nellie?

Again, you make my point, you don't care about the bead group as a place to discuss anything, you simply come in to tout your wares and malign the others here.

Don't come the cowboy with me, Sunny Jim. ;-D

Hi, Maren!

Generally they're not much changed. Mike was finally 'terminated' from his teaching position on health grounds this past year, but we're still without his retirement pay, but he's been keeping busy with beadmaking and teaching lampwork, it's been a very strongly positive thing for him. I haven't been online much but I read the group regularly, I just hate posting when it's always doom and gloom.

Thanks for asking.

Also I recommned a Video Podcast called "Metal Chik" tho she seems to have taken a Hiatus from making any more for the moment. There's still about 10 of them tho on Jewelry making
