I want to list more pieces tomorrow and one of them is a PoppyPod vessel that I could really use some opinions on. I love the way itlooks but when it hang from its' single handle, it hangs top heavy. Isit possible that someone will use this... maybe attach a mini chainfrom the loop to the handle and hang it from the loop? I've posted apicture of it in my Vessels album, along with a picture of theinspirational poppy that produces these wonderful little vessels....well, not the clay ones....

I love the poppy vessel!! I love poppies and this reminds me of the seed pods from the purple ones I grew. The vessel does hang a little funny...but its still adorable! Diana

Thank you Diana, Jerri and the people who responded offlist!

Diana, I've seen a dark burgandy poppy like this one, and I would love to see a purple one. I only have the pink and red ones (the pink ones are not as full as the reds). I have a whole bucket seeds, if you would like some. I can send you some pods too!

As for the vessel, no more single handles for me....

Thanks

The lavender purple poppy seems to come from the seeds that are used on bakery items! This fall I hope to get some from the grocery store and pop them into a nice spot. They have a single blossom like a shirley poppy, and are much smaller than orientals, they have cabbage colored leaves, not hairy like the oriental poppy. I would love some of your pods and seeds! Thank you for offering.. and when I get some of the purple ones I would be more than happy to send you a bunch. One package would be way more than I need. Diana

"Poppy seed" poppies are opium poppies.... Usually no problem if you just have a small garden plot, and your average narc probably won't recognise them anyway, but ... There were a couple of seed companies selling them, back when I was getting seed catalogs-- "Nichols Garden" is a name I seem to remember, and Shepherd' sSeeds. The seeds were called something like "Dutch Blue" Poppy Seed. The dried pods are used in dried flower arrangements and for ornaments. Kaytee "Simplexities" on

Yes, Poppy seeds in baking are opium poppies. And they will show up to give you a "dirty" urine analysis.

Thank you Deirdre! Now if I can just finish taking pictures of my other work before another big dark cloud comes through again, I may get those other auctions up! First, I must take something for this headache and go check my kiln. I am doing another glaze firing! (I can't wait to see how a couple of my tests turn out!!!)
