hey everyone- just a quick note to tell you of a new up and coming jewelry company by the name of simple EXTREMES-they specialize in an eclectic array of jewelry designs using a variety of precious stones- they have just opened a website with a store at:

and have beenselling off the shelves at boutiques and consignment locations...unfortunately, the wholecollection isn't currently online but you should check it out- their wirewrapping collection which sets them apart from the rest is not currentlyonline but should be within the next 2 weeks... so keep checking back...thanks!
**sigh** Nothing extreme about these designs. And the pictures are blurry and small. Below the pics there is a statement that says "*DISCLAIMER* photos may not depict the exact likeness of the piece". For $94.00, the pic better depict the exact likeness of the piece!! Please, please put ad in the subject line, and consider doing some market research.
LOL - I just really want to see people making an effort. It's amazing how people don't take the time to do up a website properly when it comes to selling to customers. Especially something that really relies on a visual impact. I would never spend $100 on something I couldn't really see well on the page. Hell, I take decent pics, and I am overly critical of them! If you're going to try and sell me a necklace that's expensive, please, at least show me a closeup of the clasp! Plus, the name of the business should not SHOUT unless there is something to shout about. I am not knocking the designs - they're pretty enough - but the name of the business is just......not appropriate. I could go on and on. :) Hey, I just did!!

I think that it's because some of us are so sick of people who have nothing to do with beadwork or contributing to the community come here and view us as a captive audience for their wares. I know I get tired of the constant parade of strangers who just pop up to say "Buy My Stuff!" then disappear back into the world from which they came.
People who mark their advertisements with "AD:" are always welcome, and the folks who sell things that have been here all along tend to get a very kind reception for their ads. It's just the folks who jump up and down and say "Give Me Your Money!" that get annoying, and get a less than welcome response.
And it's not just that - it's also irritating to me when people do what Kathy is stating, but their website is clearly not ready for the market. It's just very very irritating to me. I don't think Sooz was being mean - I think she was telling the truth. Sometimes the truth hurts.
It really bothers me when people try to exploit the popularity of artisan goods by passing off mass-produced items as artisan-made... even if it's only implied, it's misleading and does a disservice to the artists.
My assumption on this was that they're trying to sell you on the design, not the actual piece.
My biggest problem with this comes from the fact that they're using a lot of stone, and stone can have a natural beauty-- or not-- depending upon the stone selected. Obviously you'd photograph your best pieces. I would want to see the exact piece I'm buying before spending that kind of money, or any money, really.
Kalera's point is also a good one in that, if it is mass produced, it's very misleading. If it isn't mass produced I'd want to clarify that somewhere on the site.
