Best Definition of Lampwork

Manda brought a lampwork bead with her to art class, and another student asked how the bead got painted like that. Manda, of course told the kid that the bead was entirely made of glass. When the kid asked how that was done, Manda had the most succinct definition of lampwork I've ever heard:

  1. Torch
  2. Rods of Glass
  3. Third Degree Burns

Works for me.

You haven't truely been initiated until you get too close to a soldering job and singe off your eyebrows.

how about pointing the casting torch in the wrong direction and almost taking out the master?

and then there was the cast that plugged, threw hot brass all over the garage and set fire to the rags next to the Porsche 911 [and they weren't even CLOSE to where we were working!]

i really shouldn't be around open flames!

LOL! why do you think i stay completely away from bead making?!?!?

yes, i'm accident prone. i tend to hyperfocus on what i'm doing and forget what's going on around me -- Oran has commented on it more than once. and he's learned to warn me BEFORE he turns on something that's going to make unexpected noise! [like the air compressor!]

i really AM trying to be careful - honest!
