You don't have to assume; the OP gave both links, so it's rather painfully plain that the WHOLE PROJECT, text, photo and all, was lifted intact from another site. Not just the idea, which is so basic they could have slapped their own together easily enough... making this total plagiarism even more eggregious.

Which is exactly why Marilee was bringing it to our attention, if I'm not mistaken. *I* would certainly never have known, had she not started this discussion.

yes, i know. it was "are we going to support these people" that i was trying to figure out. if someone brings it to my attention, that's fine. but it's not always easy to know, just by looking. which was what i was trying to point out.

at this point, i've gone over so many designs, in detail, and have so many rattling around in my head, i seriously doubt if i would recognize that one page was copied from another. i don't generally investigate pages in the depth she obviously did. so i wanted to know:

1 - how to tell [which has partly been answered] 2 - if there was a "do not patronize list" or something like one, or if there should be 3 - what kinds of things i should look for.

maybe i'll just stick to buying things from people here.

There are only 2 projects left now. At least, linked to, haven't checked if they're on the server or not.

Both of them seem to use parts of illustrations from one of the beading magazines -- can't recall if it's Beadwork or Bead and Button.

you would think it would have been easier on them to just ask permission. or set up a system of links.

Hey Todd! Welcome! I am glad they took the stuff down, but sorry they didn't at least apologize. It was wrong, no matter how you look at it, and they sound like unprofessional twits with no ethics whatsoever, as well as morons who don't know (or don't care about) copyright law. Damage has already been done, however - this is a very public and busy forum - they will likely lose a LOT of customers. Not that they had many anyway, their site is so poorly done. Heh. I just **love** them!

Or borrow a digital camera and take their own pictures! I mean, c'mon, it's not that hard!
