Hi guys,
Although yesterday's craft sale was a bust (it was hard to compete with a gorgeous Saturday after all the rain and snow we had this week...yes, snow!). I was happy when a teenage girl cleaned me out of seed beads. Yup, still have lots of my "1 lb of seed beads" left :-) Oh, it wasn't all that bad, because I met a polymer clay artist who I had met on LiveJournal and bought some really nice flower beads.
Anyway, my friend and I went to the Oasis Bead show on Friday afternoon/evening and it was a total sensory overload. There were two decent sized rooms of stuff and maybe about just 30 or so vendors. They also had classes going on, but I didn't sign up for any of those. Next year maybe - and next year I'll bring more money! I think it took me just five minutes to whip out my wallet :-)
The most pleasant surprise of all were the dollar beads that many artists had for sale. I found enough of one kind of pillow bead to make a bracelet, at least, or many pendants. I couldn't see anything wrong with a lot of them - some were slightly irregular, others had some bubbling, but not a lot...others I guess just weren't up to the artist's liking. They sure were to mine though :-)
There were at least two vendors selling glass rods and there were tons of gemstones and semi-precious stones for sale. I also found the hardware to finish one of my necklaces which made me really happy.
I also didn't realize that there were so many local artists in town. I don't know where they were hiding the rest of the year, but I got a pile of business cards :-)
We also bought thing a ma jig starter kits, which is very exciting! I've made a couple of things with it so far with the sample wire that came with it. I can see doing neat stuff with heavier guage.
I'm so excited about all the goodies I brought home. But you know, as my friend observed, once you buy one thing, it almost behooves you to buy more to finish something. LOL...I'm still in heaven thinking about Friday :-)
Best, Christine
