made it to new mexico, OT, OMG

o my god! so we made it to new mexico. we drove my car and the truck. we hit someone with the truck, minor, no injuries, just $300 out of my pocket. then after 3 days and 2 nights in hotel rooms we finally made it to san cristobal. at 8:00 pm. we unpacked until midnight. we emptied the truck.

then, in the morning, i start my car, and... it has a great big red exclamation point and a 'check engine' light on!! i can not accelarate in it! i have to have it towed! i dont know if it will be covered by the warranty! o my god!! can anything else go wrong??? is this God's way of telling me i am not supposed to have a car!!??

i am just beyond frustrated. i am in a zen state. i have become one with all problems in the universe. i am the embodiment of dissaster.

but i am here. alive, and not broke yet. please, everyone, pray very hard for me to find a job. i just got turned down as a teacher's assistant, i have a damn ba degree and passed the cbest and they said i was not qualified enough, even though i have taught for 5 years in the summer and they said all you need is a high school diploma....

i will write chapter 6 soon :) much love all.

Glad you made it to your new home with only a minor incident. Sorry about your car though...that sucks...and so does the job thing...you sound like your qualified to be a teacher to me...

Just remember that things will get better as time progresses...Think good and happy thoughts...Enjoy your new home, and the surrounding areas. You will find a job soon enough that suits you.

costs. ok. o my god.

truck: $600 gas: at least $300 new furniture: $400 hotels: $100 food on the road: around $60

random unforseen costs: hitting a guy with a truck: $300 my car breaking: min. $150 in rental car plus cost to fix vehicle seeing all me new furniture in my new house with my sweet man next to me: priceless

sorry, couldnt resist ;)

total around $1900 but i swear it cost closer to $3000. o, well, also deposit on new place- $650 plus rent for time not there yet, $350, plus rent for when we arrived, $650.

new total: $3650

i did not cover all these costs, but a lot of them. probably almost

3000. crizzy!!!

yes, we went for a 'vacation'/business trip here to scout it out first. we found a place at that point, then went back to los angeles and packed and moved. :)

That part really stinks!

LOL!

Thanks! Well that gives me a general idea then. That is what I will do is go out and scout and find a place. Did the apartments give you a hard time about not having a local job?

I am just going to take my car first and get a new job and then come back and get my stuff with a truck.

Did you move to Albuquerque? I have been through there a few times and spent the night. It is really beautiful.

Thanks again.

we are in a subburb so we didnt have too much trouble about not having a local job yet... but if we were in the city we may have had more trouble. getting a job first is probably wise :) good luck!

Don't you worry about that, Alia - you've never failed me before. :) Just get settled and take care of yourself - the beads are here when you want them. :)

You poor thing! I'm sorry about your car, but glad you are well! Are you in or anywhere near one of the big tourist towns? If you could use your wonderful talent to make some jewelry that is kind of southwestern-y, I wonder if gallery sales would be a good secondary sourse of income for you? Tourists do spend big money in NM.
