My try at masculine jewelry

Well, my DD is going to a birthday celebration for a 16-year-old friend and asked me to make him a necklace as a gift. I almost never get a chance to make anything masculine with my beads, so I welcomed the opportunity. DD was thrilled with the results, and even *I* was pleased enough to share, LOL. I used batik bone beads, shell heishi and Bali silver. I sure hope he likes it! BTW, the sterling silver clasp was made by Marilee.

WOW Carol! That is THE coolest guy necklace I've seen in a long time! I love it! I'm sure he'll love it, too!

Suedo (like "pseudo", though I'm no phony baloney!)

Thanks! It's about 18 inches long, but the boy I made it for has a fairly large neck so it won't be too much longer than a choker on him.

Hey! The links are working! And I like what I see. Can't imagine even the most butch, muscular guy turning up his nose at that design. :-)

My husband is muscular and very outdoorsy, and not the wiry type. 18" digs into his neck. 20" lies comfortably at the base of his neck. 18" is probably more common, espescially for a younger man.

The piece is great! I never make guy-stuff, even though hubby hints for something occasionally. The clasp is great, too!

Cudos to both of you!

I agree with Suedo. Plus, I showed it to my stepson, age 26 and he liked it and said he would wear it. (In fact now wants me to make him one. LOL) So I know it will be a big hit with DD's friend. Cheri (Bubbee to Emily and Nathan)

Thanks, Deirdre! I'm still waiting for DD to get home to find out what the Birthday boy thought of his present!

I like! You know, I think there'd be quite a market for 'masculine' jewellery out there, going by my brothers and their friends! Once when I took A shopping, all he could think about was finding the right necklace :)

Labradorite is good in men's jewelry. Also amber, wood, Bali. Pete even wears faceted stones (especially a piece of Moldavite) with a hefty silver chain and big bail.
