New Topic: What is YOUR favorite piece of jewelry?

To try to stimulate some discussion, how about this topic? What is YOUR favorite piece of jewelry and why? Is it something you made? Was it a gift? Was it a special purchase?

Today for me it is a pair of earrings I made... they are not that unusual really, but the beads are a greenish picasso melon that seems to go with anything AND show up against my hair and skin.

I'll try to post a pic in a day or so.

What about you?

I have a pair of simple gold hoops that I wear almost daily, and have done so since I got them with my first paycheck from a job when I was

  1. They are Israeli gold and I bought them at a shop that was co-owned by my great-aunt. I do wear other jewelry, but these are my 'signature' earrings and they always go back in once the other ones come out. I wear them more than the diamond studs I got for my 40th birthday. I even have a picture of them in a safety deposit box in the event I lose them and want to get them reproduced. They are about 18 gauge wire, give or take.

My wedding ring. It's a wide band with a pierced design. I never had an engagement ring, so I bought a wedding band that is quite intricate. For one reason and another (and another) my husband and I had to postpone our wedding, I waited a long time for this ring. I hardly ever take it off and it is the only jewelry I wear consistently.

Other than that I'd have to say my entire earring collection, which is huge. Marisa

My favorite is this loud sparkly orange and pink clusterfuck of bead mayhem that a certain someone gave me a while back. It makes me smile just to look at it. I only wear it on special occasions and dates and moments when I want to feel extra pretty. It's like a caterpillar, or a hundred puppies playing.

REALLY?!?!??!?! WOW!! Thank you, sweets!!!!!!!!! That is the most *perfect* name for those bracelets (which are The Specialty of the House)!! "Clusterfuck"!! (Wish I could use it.)

I wore my first bracelet of that type for over 3 years, every single day, before a bead popped off. I put my hand in and out of my purse constantly, etc. -- that bracelet was ABUSED. The orange-&-pink clusterfuck was made MUCH more sturdily, MUCH more than mine. You can wear it more often than special occasions! And if it ever breaks, I can fix it easily.

BTW, even though a bead fell off, it's been 2 years -- and even though I never repaired it, I kept wear> Vibrant Jewels wrote:

My most favorite necklace is a simple diamond star--- well it's a star with little diamonds in it, hard to explain, on a simple gold chain. DH gave it to me. I lost it a few weeks ago, it fell off the chain when I was trying to put it on (darn tiny clasp!) and I thought I'd accidently thrown it away. I actually cried over it. But I kept looking for it, and when I moved my dresser, I found the star being cuddled by a dust bunny!!! Now I'm so happy! [Except I'm missing him so bad].

I wear very little jewelry other than a silver chain with 2 small silver baby shoes and several celtic rings that mark different times in my life and they are all very dear to me; including my wedding band, the marriage with the good-ex is gone but I still love the ring!

There are many pieces I've made that I love and let go of (many to my mom) but my very *very* favorite was a necklace of black onyx, awesome turquoise from Nicole and a pair of beautiful lampwork beads from Kalera. Unfortunately that one went far from home on Ebay. :( Everytime I see a picture of that one I really wish I had kept it!!!

I keep holding on to the first free form peyote necklace I made, I've never worn it, but I love the colors and know I could never duplicate it. I really don't have a clue what you could wear it with. Any suggestions? http://209.239.56.130/jewelry/BIO/freeform.jpg http://209.239.56.130/jewelry/BIO/freeformdet.jpg http://209.239.56.130/jewelry/BIO/freeformbracelet.jpg http://209.239.56.130/jewelry/BIO/freeformbraceletdet.jpg And here's another piece I made and love and have worn it a lot, although not since I got it caught in my keyboard! LOL I call it a treasure necklace. I just can't remember where I put the darn thing. http://209.239.56.130/jewelry/BIO/treasurenl.jpg

Well, dear, I'm clairvoyant and I know it doesn't go with a *thing* in your closet. You'll have to send it to *me*! (I have *lots* of green.)

My favorite piece of jewelry is the lampwork bead by Laurie Smith that contains some of the ashes of my 21-year-old kitty, Bobo, that crossed the Rainbow Bridge in March 2004. I wear it on a sterling silver chain along with a maracsite ring that my mom always wore.

Strangely, I don't wear a lot of jewelry. It gets in the way! But when I go out, I love my silver pentagram pendant - it's a gorgeous Celtic design on a simple silver snake chain. Comfy and pretty.

I also have a bracelet I made a few years ago that I love, that has lots of autumn colored gemstones and a fiery cube focal I made. I wear that when I am making magic.
