Arrrr. The child just said "You people need a hobby, but..."

She also asked if we were smoking that 49 stand wire or something.

Double Arrr. I'm lookin' for a plank and a cutlass to make the wee beastie regret her words.

We celebrated by my talking like a pirate when we went out to breakfast (Manda pretended not to know me). The poor waitress was a recent Irish immigrant, and didn't quite what to know of my pirate accent, arrrr. To solve this, I became an Irish Pirate for the duration. It helped the waitress, but Manda threatened to hide under the table.

To add insult to injury in Manda's mind, I noticed that one of her friends worked there. I told her friend that it was "Talk Like A Pirate Day," and gave her some pirating hints. The owner of the restaurant came over as we were leaving, and asked if I was that girl's mother, because the friend kisses my head every time she walked by me. I said that we were simply friends, and were leaving, so Manda's friend would remain employed, because she was spending a lot of time goofing off around our table.

The owner already knew about Pirate Day from the waitress we had tipped off earlier. She went in the back, and everyone was practicing their Pirate talk. We bought some scones to have at home, and arrrr our way back to the car.

Manda finds the whole Idea to be embarrassing, but she has zero chance of talking me out of celebrating. On the ride home, I sang the Disney Pirate song When we got home, Manda had her revenge, by getting us to watch "Pirates of the Carrebean: Curse of the Black Pearl." I tried to sway her oogling of Johnny Depp to far more wholesome oogling of Orlando Bloom.

All movie comments had to be in "Pirate," Sophie joined in, by making her opinions in "pirate barking." She also stole her share of booty by grabbing one of my raisin scones, and making pirate noises when Manda decided to retreive the scone.

The neighbors unknowingly added to the pirate flavor, seeing how much Irish whisky was drunk, and singing their version of pirate songs.

I also took a little walk through, just to quickly inventory the beads. Arrrrgh. Ye'd need a moving van to move these puppies. One side of the dining room is completely full of beads (most in containers) the Living room has two five drawer bead storage dressers chock full.and two good sized boxes beside the storage dressers. The Den doesn't have the shelving in (Bob lethargy), but there are boxes of beads ready and waiting to go. I think that it's worthy pirate booty, and will be well guarded by scurvy landlubbers, trained to punch people and keep the beads safe on pain of death.

Next year will be better: I'll have Pirate tee shirts and hats, and maybe a couple of eye patches and a plastic cutlass or two. Manda has a stuffed Wombat that's really cool. He can be our Pirate Pet, to honor the Australians and New Zealand.

I LOVE Pirate Day!
