OT Checking In - really late for Shirley's Roll Call

Just wanted to delurk to say Hi and update my activities a bit.

First, like too many others, I've been having computer issues, the latest being mine went south for the winter and left me here. So even lurking has been a bit of a problem.

For those of you who are newer to RCB, I'm primarily a seed beader and general all around bead junkie! I live in the US - Pacific Northwest. Would love to try everything - lampwork, polyclay, PMC, metal, and everything else - but am afraid to because there just aren't enough hours to become addicted to more!

The other interference with lurking has been my involvement with our local Bead Society. I love it! We had our annual Bead Retreat in March. I was fortunate enough to be on the organizing committee this year. (If anyone has an idea for next year's retreat, I'd surely appreciate hearing them!) Just thinking about the Retreat gets me anxiously awaiting the next one. The days on the coast just fly by! I get to meet new beaders and learn lots of new stuff. I volunteer for way too many functions, but gotta help spread the word that beads are fun. I particularly enjoy working with or Bead Lady. She's amazing! She knows more about beads than I'll ever have a chance to hear, but am surprised at how much I've pick up when she takes a break and I get to answer questions. Oh, and I see Armand and Kerry at the monthly meetings.

We are down to one dog, several fish and the odd hummingbird. (It was a nasty winter for hummers. Spent one week or so with low enough temps for the feeders to freeze so we always had one indoors defrosting and two out the back door.)

Backing into lurk-mode (at least until I get a computer again!)

Great to "see" you again. You sound to be awfully busy with one thing or another. Give Armand and Kerry my regards. Hugs Shirley

Hi Vicki,

Tell us about your Bead Retreat. Was it a town thing? a camp thing? at a school or park facility? How many people were there? Was it a local type thing with informal sharing or did you have classes? How many days? I'd love to have something like that up here. But of course Fairbanks is both rather small and also pretty isolated.

Good luck getting your computer access back.
