OT - Glitzy Glass Studio says good-bye to Poppy

The last few months I have been trying to save our little dog Poppy. He was a brave little soul, went through cancer surgery with a bad heart and made a full recovery. He was a rescue dog and come to us five years ago with hardly any fur due to stress. In the last few weeks his heart caught up with him and he seemed to be getting weaker. I took him in for his regular grooming appointment and the vet decided he needed his Rabies Vaccine - that was the beginning of the end.

I took him home and within hours he became very ill, no intervention worked, finally he had what they believe to be a stroke and so we rushed him to the emergency vet - tonight we hugged him for the last time. Poppy came into my life after I lost my dog Jack to kidney disease - he needed me and I needed him, he healed my heart. "sigh" just wanted to share - I miss him so!

Ohhh, sad... Goodbye Poppy. What a lucky dog she was to get to live with you these last 5 years.

sorry to hear Denise. Hope he's gone on to a better life (rhinking of the move "all dogs go to heaven", not that I've seen it)

My condolences Denise. I lost one of my cats unexpectedly this last February and the loss still aches.

I'm so sorry for your loss of Poppy. I'm sure he had a wonderful life with you, and that he loved being your dog as much as you loved having him.

Oh Denise, I'm so sorry for your loss. You gave Poppy a good life, and I'm sure when the time is right, you will find another little soul that needs your love. When I lost my kitty Winston in December, I was so grief stricken that I could barely function. One thing that really helped was writing a little story of his life. It helped me to remember all the good times and made me realize just how lucky I was to have him as my best friend for almost 15 years. Big hugs,

Denise, I'm so sorry for your loss. Our fur babies help and understand us sometimes when no one else does. Mourn his loss, but know that he is now without pain. I hope time and good thoughts will heal your heart. I'm thinking of you. Patti

Denise,

I'm so sorry. You are sooooooo right. They just don't stay with us long enough.

You and Poppy were both lucky to have found each other.

Denise, I am so, so sorry. I know no words can really help you. (This week's my 1 year anniversary of losing Mercury, so....) I KNOW how you're feeling. I grieve for you. Cry all you want, and ignore those who say "It's only a DOG." They are unlucky and cruel. I know I wept just walking Merc down the street when I knew his time was near.

But --- I'm glad Poppy is free, free to run and play and leap and fly. Free of suffering, free to play with all the dogs who went before. And I know, I really DO KNOW, that you'll see Poppy again. Please feel free to email me -- I was a veterinary euthanasia counselor in a past career, and we can talk all you want.

Oh, I;m so sorry for your loss, Denise. You are so right, our furry friends don't stay with us very long. At least you know he had a good life, and you had awhile to enjoy him. Cyndi

Denise... big {{{HUGS}}} no words can do ... nothing can replace each individual animal... we make room in our hearts and homes for successive pets... but each one is loved, and missed, in their own special way.

Cheryl - still missing my Baron after all these years.

Exactly. The loss of a pet is just as painful as the loss of a human. I am so sorry, Denise. (((((((hugs)))))))
