OT I am back

I am back. DH and I have been on a coach trip to Wales. Ancestors from both sides of the family came from Wales, so you could say we have been "home".

The weather was quite good but cold. We had a couple of trips out in the coach to the areas round about. Looked in a few churches and grave yards but did not see any one of our namesakes.

I went into one craft shop that had some gorgeous yarns in and a small bead selection. Nothing took my eye to buy.

The roadside was lovely, I have never seen so many wild primroses in my life. All the flower were yellow, the primroses, lesser celandine, coltsfoot and of course the daffodil the national flower of Wales. The hedges were bursting in new green buds of the hawthorn. The black thorn was in full blossom. On the way down the fields had large standing area's of standing water left from the recent storm.

In the gardens the beautiful pink and white magnolias were just coming out.

We have had snow falls here the last 3 days but it did not stay long. It was cold enough to spoil peoples Easter holidays. Thank goodness we got back the day before it started.

I am taking life easy and not rushing about or doing anything taxing. Hugs Shirley

Hi Shirley...

It's wonderful news to hear you're feeling well enough to get out and about. Oh how I'd love to see those flowers you describe.

Please take it easy and rest. We want you with us for many, many, MANY years to come.

Happy to see you're out and about. Sounds pretty what you describe of Wales in spring.

Take it easy!

I don't think I've ever seen wild primroses. In the house I grew up in in Oakland we had primroses. Around our Hawthorn tree, no less. Hawthorn have lovely delicate blossoms.

No blossoms, leaves, or even buds here yet. Except pussy willows. Most people don't think of them as blossoms, but they are; and they smell wonderful.

I'm so glad you had a chance to get out, take a trip, see the country side, old roots.

I hope it means your health is better.

Much love,

Tina

There were absolute banks of them in the roadside verges.

They are really delicate.

It was a change from the four walls of home.

I would like to say it was but it will never be better. Now I have a leaking valve in my heart which cannot be operated on. I have good days and bad ones. Just have to take life one day at a time.

Hugs to you Tina Shirley

You know, no matter far past childhood we are, our lives continue to contract as we get older. But the thing I learned from my grandmother's example, is that as our world gets smaller, because of health or age or finances, we can fill that world packed full of riches.

She had health problems as a child, and also as a girl she has an injury that left her lame. None of that stopped her, she still got around. When she could no longer get out and about without a wheel chair, she still did a lot, and she also did a lot of writing. She wanted to learn Chinese when she was 70 because she thought it was the language of the future (since it was the language of the majority).

With my husband's disability from work, and my Depression (without melancholy), our lives have become smaller, but still rich and happy. I sometimes joke that between Pete's mind and my good back we make one good person. I hate seeing Pete unable to work in the woods, but I really prefer having him doing his massage and healing work anyway. It's an adjustment. Requires rethinking priorities. And it requires accepting pain as fact of life, and not kicking himself for what he can't do. It often requires a decision to be happy.

I know that you already know all this. I know this is how you live and fill your life and stay happy, and give happiness to others.

So I will just wish you mostly good days, and be grateful to have you here.

Tina
