OT : Owl

How cool! I frequently see hawks and such, but rarely see owls, only hear them.

One morning, I got up early, and there was an owl on a branch right outside the window. That was cool.

Yesterday we had a snowstorm is Wisconsin USA. An hour before dark we looked out at our clothesline in the backyard and a Huge Owl had landed there! He stayed for a few minutes and then flew away but soared up to our level first (we were on the second story) and then flew off. I think he was going to land on our porch railing and then saw us and thought better of it..

We live in a small city, but have a lot of old trees around us. We have heard owls on occasion but this was our first sighting.

It was an incredible experience.

How totally cool!!! We have woods behind our house and I often see hawks, kestrels, falcons, and small screetch owls around. I always feel privileged when they come to visit.

I often get a Sparrow Hawk on our garden wall. Also he or she has only come for a meal of one of the other birds. I have 3 bird feeding stations. I hate to see another bird taken but that is nature. I have a new robin coming around, I hope to be able to get him to feed from my hand like I did with the other 2 years back. Got the meal worms for him. Shirley

I drew that after an encounter with an owl in the trees out on a walk in the park quite a few months ago. I had a little owl obsession for a few weeks. lol!

Glad to hear you are all inside and have electricity!! That is always my biggest fear during the storms like that.

We get things like wild cats, and sometimes bears, in places they should never be, LOL. I haven't ever seen a big owl like that but am glad you had the experience, Kathy!!!

Much love -- Becki

We have them all year round. They are traditional a Christmas bird that are always featured on Christmas cards, decorations and cakes along with the holly. The one that I hand fed had 3 lots of chicks that year he/she was with us. When they were fledged he/she brought them all to the wall outside my window, and showed them the place were they could get the meal worms.

I read somewhere that some of the robins go to Norway for the winter. Shirley

What a creative idea using just the owl face--it came out really well. Marylee
