OT - Voting? Are there lines where you live?

Hi, I'm in central NJ. I voted around 11 AM and there were no lines at my district. Turnout is heavy though, I was #399, the highest I've ever been (and that was around 3:30PM) for a presidential election was

300. Trust your heart and go out and vote!!! I'd be interested to know how it is in other parts of the country.

Virginia Beach:

Hubby went to vote this morning at 9:00. Stood in line for 2.5 hours before he could punch in his selection. I went after work, got there around 5:30, and waited for 2 minutes to punch in my selections. You should have seen the lines this morning!! I have to drive by the school where we go to vote and the whole parking lot was full and cars were lined up on either side of the roads that border the school. It was pandemonium and I am soooooooo glad I waited till after work to vote.

No lines here (Oregon), anywhere, anytime. We've had vote-by-mail for a number of years, and it's quite convenient. We get our ballots a couple weeks before Election Day, and fill them out at our leisure. Then we can either mail them back, or drop them in special locked election boxes anytime before or by 8pm on Election Day. I'm just ecstatic that the election commercials and junk mail is gone!!!

You know what gripes my soul about the whole process? The big $$$ the candidates spend to win... I think there ought to be a very LOW cap on spending. That money could have been used for something constructive instead of trading superficial swipes at one another!!! As it stands, the one with the biggest pot usually wins - how is that fair or democratic????? Especially when they ALL are reassuring us that they really ARE for the little guy (translate that "financially disadvantaged"). And claiming that they are NOT kowtowing to the special interest groups that fund them! Hyprocrisy thy name is politics!!!

... falling off my soapbox now... LOL

And goodbye for sure to all the propaganda and junk mail. YES !
