OT: we only have 2 cats now ...

Hi all,

sad to say, we lost our oldest cat. She was 15 years old, and the kidney damage that she got from being poisoned when she was 2 finally got her so sick that we had to put her to sleep. She was a good cat, and a good rat killer in her younger years. In the end she first stopped eating, then didn't get around anymore - she collapsed in the middle of the floor, trying to get to her water dish -, and in the end was crying a lot and unable to take liquids fed with a syringe.

She was a good cat and we'll miss her. I'll go back to being miserable now.

((((Maren))))))) So sorry for your loss. I know how painful losing one of your cats can be. She sounds like she was a great cat and I'm glad you have happy memories of her.

I feel your pain, having lost two Jack Russells a few years ago. You will have many happy memories of her to help you through this sad time. Hugs Shirley

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss. Losing a kitty always creates such a huge hole in your life. In time that hole will be filled with all your great memories of her, but for now there's just the pain of loss. My kitties send gentle paw taps and lots of loving purrs to you and your other cats, while I send you cyberhugz.

I have found this website to be very helpful on days when I'm feeling blue. The icanhazcheezburger cats always make me laugh!

She's out in the yard now, close to where she had those stand-offs with our previous neighbors' dog, and where she did all her hunting.

Our other cats were extra cuddly last night.

Thanks Patti.

Cat walking along top of chain-link fence teasing neighbors' dog comes to mind :-). That dog was stupid, he should have known better than to get into territorial fights with Miki'aoluku (Hawaiian for 'Claws of Destruction' - and that's what she was, in a good sense. She was the only cat in the neighborhood in her younger years and wiped out the rat population single pawed-ly.).

Thanks Jerri. I know you know. Did make it to work, but it's next to impossible to concentrate on anything. My boss knows and understands.

I'm so glad to hear that about your boss. A lot of times, people at the work place just don't understand.

They lost a Newfoundland not too long ago. I'm lucky to work with mostly real people with real lives.

And, being in a small town, people tend to know one another a bit better ... (remembering the day when my credit union's notary public called me - at home, on a Sunday. Her cousin had passed away the previous night. He worked in the office next to mine.)

I'm sure we'll still miss Miki'aoluku 2 years from now too.

We still miss Eleoiki after almost 15 years, as annoying as she usually was sleeping in the bed, "human, I don't care if you want to sleep, I want to get petted" kind of annoying. I don't see anything wrong with still missing her.

Thanks Barbara.

I'm so sorry about your cat. I lost my kitty 15 years ago in a house fire.

Now we have a Queensland Heeler that is getting old. She lies around a lot. She's also both more likely to snap because she's cranky, and yet less likely to respond. I figure that's because of pain. She looks fat, though her face is thin, and we can feel the bumps of fibrous tumors. We give her MSM for her joints. Just lately she's not eating well. I've made her up a batch of dog bone/cookies made with soy protein and milk and I've added "green butter". We've had the talk about how much pain is too much. I'm afraid all the hard stuff is going to be up to me, since Pete has had her since she was a pup, and I'm the new addition to her family.

But it's sure worth it for the years we have them.

Hugs,

Tina

sorry to hear. It was the pain that got to Miki'ao, and us going away for just a few days. She used to wait for us by the door but that time she was the last one of the cats to get home. It doesn't matter whether they are cats, dogs or guinea pigs. They are part of the family. It hurts to see them suffer, and it hurts to lose them. Watching the other cats missing their cat house-mate doesn't help.

Maren (won't mention her name in the presence of the other cats for a while longer. Learned that one the hard way)
