]And it depends on what part of CA you're talking about, too! Orange County is ]known for being terribly conservative. The SF Bay Area for being liberal. ]Berkeley for......well, uh, for being extremely eccentric and politically left ]of left wing. Hollywood for being liberal, the central valley (farmland) for ]being conservative.......it's a big state, so how can anyone generalize about ]it in *any* category?

exactly. you want conservative - you should try where i live. talk about being all alone!

Jamie bought her very first car. She flew home from Seattle, bought the car, brought it to me, said "Mom, here's all the paperwork. When it's all in my name, bring it to me, would you?" and promptly flew back to Seattle. in part of which was due to the fact that she was bound and determined to have CA plates on HER car, too.

Haha I went to Mariposa once, because my friend's mom lives there. Talk about getting the hairy eyeball! People in shops acted like I was going to either shoplift or burn the place down if they took their eyes off me. And where I'm from, I look like a soccer mom!

The whole time I lived in California (two years), I only had three friends who were from there.

My mom and sister still live there. I'm 3rd generation native CAian. Most of my HS graduating class is still in CA, tho a lot have moved to the northern half of the state. The natives are just quiet about it. They are trying to stay incognito. Barbara Dream Master

I'm from Calif. Second generation. My son is third generation. My dad was born there in 1903.

I think a lot of it has to do with whera I lived... the Bay Area natives seem to be heavily outnumbered!

My father constantly complains about how all the "furrinners" are ruining the state.... Zany Zonies, loony tree-huggers from Oregon... not to even mention Texans and New Yorkers.... Kaytee "Simplexities" on

In Alaska, I'm concidered aflaming tree hugger. But when I go home to Calif, I'm regarded as an animal killing resource squanderer. Funny thing about that is, a lot of people interested in conservation in Calif (and elsewhere) are conspicuous consumers. They miss that first rule: Don't use. After that come, Use what is abuntant and replaceable, and Reuse.
