Re: Story - Multitasking

It amazes me how much women can do. I beat myself up because I can't focus on one thing and then I think about all I do and realize "duh" I don't have the time to focus. My day consists of homeschooling, working at our family business, working on my jewelry business, managing rental properties and running a household with 3 teenagers. I have to chuckle when hubby comes home and he can't handle letting the dog out and taking out the trash at the same time.

My house is messy too.

It was during that outing that I realized I was a true "Woman of the > Nineties:" I was applying a child's band-aid, taking photos and making sure > children didn't run off, all while holding an international conference call > with a client on the cell phone. > > No wonder my house is so messy. > > Kathy N-V >

This is why I have one simple rule when it comes to the tasks my husband does; ignore them. Unless it's life-threatening, he can figure out the best way to do it without my help.

Same with my kids. I tell them to do something, and if they don't do it the way I think is right, that's their problem. Unless there will be serious ramifications, of course.

Yeah, I give them pointers (even my husband), but if they find their own way, I let it go even if it bugs me. My mom micro-managed me to the point of hysterics (mine) with some things, like washing dishes, and gave me no hints at all with others, like applying to college. I'm trying to find a happy medium!
