Repairing a hoop earring.

I have a customer that purchased some basic hoop earrings from a department store (cou..dillards..gh). After a couple of wears, the latch on one of the earrings broke off. The store was unable to help her, so she asked if I might be able to help. Naturally, she does not have the part that broke off.

So... I'm need information. Is it possible for a mere stringer/ headpin'er to make this type of repair, or would someone with more metal experience and tools have to do it? If I can do it, where would I find the missing part? My regular supply sources don't seem to carry the individual part.

Can you send a picture of the earrings? If we saw the latch, we might have a better idea how to help. I make wire jewelry, so I'm wondering if you could attach a new wire to make the earring wearable, but without seeing, I'm not sure.

I suppose that if you have an orphan earring you may be able to replace it. Like Jerri says a picture would help Shirley
