Shoot, you didn't tell me in time to get some. But I did get this bit of trivia today: It's impossible to fold a piece of paper in half more than 7 times. I didn't believe it, but we tried it several times with various sizes of paper. It also said that Marilyn Monroe had six toes (I don't know if that was altogether, like 3 on each feet, or that one had 6 toes, or 6 toes on both feet) - any truth to that? I did have a kitten that had 6 toes on each feet but his name wasn't Marilyn!

Sigh... makes you really WANT some chocolate!

I thought MLK day was next Monday.....

that's when the federal Holiday is anyway -- Cheryl of DRAGON BEADS Flameworked beads and glass

January 15 is his DOB which is observed on Monday. It's confusing and that is exactly why I had forgotten.

I've rarely worked at a place where holidays were anything other than an excuse for a sale, rather than actually having holidays, or 3 day weekends. Makes for being on a different loop than normies. And of course, growing up in Oakland in the 60s, it holds more meaning and memories for me. Never the less, it does seem like quite a faux pas for whoeven proclaimed this Choco-Mas Day. They might want to have a word with the folks in public relations.

Tina,

I certainly understand your point of view but everyday is some sort of a holiday. Public Relation departments love to create pseudo-holidays to promote something. I don't think it's meant as any form of disrespect for a wonderful man.

I was able to find out that besides being Rev King's birthday, January 15 is also: Customer Service Day Get To Know Your Customer Day Humanitarian Day Icebox Days Just Do It Day - Make the Connection National Fresh Squeezed Juice Day Thank God It's Monday Day Natioanl Strawberry Ice Cream Day

January 16: Bald Eagle Appreciation Days National Nothing Day Religious Freedom Day Lee-Jackson Day (Virginia) Haru-No-Yabuiri (Japan) National Day of Peace (El Salvador) National Religious Freedom Day St Priscilla's Day (patron of widows)

January 17: Judgment Day Penguin Awareness Day Benjamin Franklin's Birthday (statesman) St. Anthony's Day (Christian) San Antonio Abazd (Mexico) Liberation Day (Poland) National Hot Buttered Rum Day AND BEST OF ALL: my dad's 65th birthday. Y'all may send him birthday wishes at snipped-for-privacy@aol.com (mom will pass the messages on to him)

And just in case you wondered, January 22 is Answer Your Cat's Question Day.

According to the information on Snopes site there is little to support the claim that MM had more than the standard number of toes per foot.

I lived in Germany for 6 years...I left when I was 12. I *loved* to go to the candy store, and scarf gummi-baren (umlaut missing). I came here, and it's harder, for the same brand (Haribo). But when I was 17, I had a friend who's family was German, and they sent me a package of Haribo Gummi Bears straight from Germany, and it was as soft as ever!

They are really thin (like after 8's) with coconut and chopped cherry in the middle. I didnt really think they tasted much of cherries, but they were totally gorgeous. and now I want one...Anyone want to swap? :-)
