Two questions about techniques

First question: I'm thinking about getting some bezel cab settings from Rio. Does one just glue the cabs in, or does the bezel have to then be pressed in -- and if the latter, do I need a special tool to do it, or can it be done with any rounded blunt object?

Second question: Rio also has something called "beading pins"; apparently the idea is that you string your beads for half the pin's length, then bend it back to hook into the pre-made catch. Has anyone done anything with these, and are there any special pitfalls of which I should be aware? Thanks,

Celine

Only if you want big, fat scratches in the metal! The bezel pusher must be smooth. No sharp or 90 degree angles. Barbara Dream Master

For the cabs, there is a tool called a "bezel puller" which lets you push the sides around the cab easily. I think Rio probably has them. Patti

You're right. I should have added that. I do have a burnishing tool that is squared off. I've used it to push down prongs over a stone, but generally avoid it.

I was thinking about a rounded piece of hard rubber, like the handle of a screwdriver. Would that work?

Where would that be in the Tools catalog? I swear I've gone thru the entire hand-tools section and didn't find it!

Thanks -- when I went back and looked again, it was on a page I *had* already looked at, and my eye apparently skated right over it!

The set of 3 tools isn't very expensive, and one of the others looks like something I could use too, so I'll probably get the set.

The tool I like the best is the short curved burnisher, but I don't do a lot of bezels.
