Update - Re: OT - little bitty anxiety attacks

Update: We've stopped looking for now. All that's available here in our price range are fixers, and we just can't do that right now. We need to be able to have something that's ready to move into. A few minor things are ok, but we're not willing to replace porches or floors or repair water damaged walls or convert oil furnaces into natural gas right now. There was exactly ONE house we looked at that could have worked, but when we called, they had just accepted an offer on it. Seeing as we're wanting to adopt, we really need to be able to have things ready for inspections and home visits. Dh gets a raise in January, so maybe we'll try again. This was a great learning experience...thanks guys for all your advice. I'm not so scared of it now, because of all the information. It's not a question of if, now, as a question of when. We need to wait for the right time and the right house to fall into our laps. I'm not discouraged, but maybe a little bummed, because we set our hopes up for something different/better, and it's just not the right time.

Hang in there, Jalynne! If you don't have a pressing need to move RIGHT NOW, settle in, save as much $$ as possible, and wait until spring. I can tell you, from growing up in the moving business, that most people sell and move spring and summer...they wait until kids are out of school to make the move, so now is kinda bad timing...usually only the bruised fruit is left. A lot of people put their homes on the market in April or May, anticipating a

60-day escrow and some lag. And once in a while a gem shows up in the dead of winter (I found my old house that way).

That's what we figure, too, Karen. We don't HAVE to move right now. We have a great little house that allows us to save up $, and if we had a baby in here, it would be tight, but could still work. Cost of housing in Tacoma/Pierce County is high, but I know we'll find something eventually.

I think it will all end up working out perfectly for you... just keep your ear to the ground, and the right house will turn up at the right time!
