Amazing Box II

What a saga!!!! I have to agree it really sounds like a defective machine - and your lack of trust in the local "repair" center seems to be "well earned". (Yegads - how do they stay in business???) I have been careful to save all these posts, as my better half has still been too involved with other things to be able to get her machine up & running - I do NOT relish the thought of having to go through even 1/10 of what you've been through to get things playing. I'm guilty of assuming that things "featured" should "play well together".... Guess I'll learn soon enough, though. I'm seriously considering investing in a "diagnostic tool", that being one XL-5000 card WITH something on it. I have hopes that will help determine if any issues are compatibility or hardware related. I think I speak for all who have followed your saga in wishing you a speedy solution!!!

Best Regards, NGA

Unfortunately, they are inhouse at the shop where I bought my Singer, and they have taken over/merged with most of the sewing-machine sales and service stores in the area. :-(

I wish you luck. I really hope this is a hardware problem, and that the serial port on the machine will turn out to have been defective. I know that sounds strange, but better a defective port than finding out that I can *never* make the transfer using the Conversion Tool software.

As if! ;-}

I think that's what I will do, too, when I get the machine back. I wish there was one with more designs of interest to me.

You're very kind, and I know this will be of continuing interest to the group, so I'll post a follow-up when I know the outcome.

Thanks,

The techie can put a meter or "breakout box" on the serial port and tell you if it looks OK.

There is no seals to break or case to open.

Ah, well, too late now, I have taken it back to the shop. I know on some electronic equipment, opening the case voids the warrantee, didn't want to risk that.

Hi. I'm selling Amazing Box II on my Amazon store, and I have the box here, it says Not compatible with Singer XL5000 right on the side of the box. In case anyone is till wondering. I don't know the reason why that is.
