Anyone using a Futura CE100?

I recently won one in an online raffle. The machine was used less than

10 hours. Thought it was a great thing.

First issue was the compatability with windows Vista. Got that solved via the singer website.

Next was a thread breakage error. I must have threaded something wrong, although the instruction manual with the machine doesn't cover it as well as it should IMO.

Now, the needle bent. Seems the bobbin case is moving around too freely and apparently moved enough to bend the needle.

Any ideas on what could be wrong with this machine? Here I thought I was getting something I could enjoy, and all it has given me so far is a headache.

If anyone out there is using this type of machine and has seen something like this happening, please let me know what I need to do.

That can be caused by improper threading. But it is also possible that a sensor is faulty or needs adjustment.

If the bobbin case is moving that much, it's either not positioned properly or the bobbin case stopper needs adjustment.

Your best bet would be to take it to a Singer dealer that sells and services the Futura machines.

First, this is a great machine once you get past a couple of issues. The CE100 & 200 were first manufactured with a problem bobbin case. You can order a replacement one online at many sources. Next, the thread issue can be a number of things. You must hold the thread in both hands while running the thread through the white/clear area on top of the machine. You will hear a very faint click when the thread engages. The thread may be catching on something or unwinding in the wrong direction. I recommend that you get a few thread nets and try those to help the thread flow off the spools smoothly. The bobbin casing moving around will definitely cause needle breaks as well as thread that is catching on something. The thread nets will help with that, too.

You might want to join a yahoo group for your machine. One that I recommend is FuturaForFun. The moderators there are very knowledgable and will be glad to help you. They also have a collection of files there that will help you, too.

Thanks for the information. I did join a group called QuantumFuturaHelpingHand, and have asked similar questions about the machine. They are the ones who pointed me in the right direction about the software issue.

I was informed early on by the person who raffled off the machine about the flossing to get the machine threaded. Took me a bit to figure out what that meant, but I understand it now. I have tried to make sure that the thread is in place correctly.

The bobbin case is what I am mainly concerned about. And I wondered if during shipping something got knocked loose, or a sensor got jogged out of place. I did call someone that does service these machines, and will be taking it in within the week.

I will check into the other Futura Group. From this point, I need all the help I can get.

Again, thanks!
