Attaching fleece to a hoop?

I am trying to attach a large hoop to some thick fleece. I am hesitant to try and hoop it with tear-off stabilizer. So I thought maybe just hooping the stabilizer and attaching the fleece to the top somehow.

I thought about spraying some"Quilter's Spray" glue on some tear-of stabilizer but fear it would pile the pile out of the fabric or mess it up.

Dealer told me to baste it onto the hooped stabilizer (he was trying to sell me water soluble basting thread too) along with some water-soluble stabilizer on top of that.

Sounds like a lot of work. Is that the best way?

I have a D2 and use the basting stitch all the time. Love it!

Nana, what machine do you have? That sounds like a very useful feature! Julie

Figure she's got a D1(?) - only one I know of that does that...

for those of you who have a ULT machine, and this is where I do use wash-away thread (no picking out, just wash), I use the frames feature to create a basting pattern around the design area, and then stitch Others have basting patterns that were gotten off the internet stored on their ULT's for the same use.

The Pfaff Creative 2140 has a built-in feature that includes the option to baste around the edge of the design area -- you can turn it on or off as you please. Once you've done the outline it will pause and ask you to insert color #1 -- this gives you the option of using a specialized thread (like the washaway) for the outline portion.

I discovered recently it's also *very* handy in re-positioning the design if you've had to take the hoop off the machine and clear out a tangle, or transport the machine with the design in-progress, re-sized the design, etc. Still learning the machine and the embroidery techniques, etc. -- having fun so far!

The wash-away thread is a great idea and I'm going to try that on the next project where I use this option with toweling, etc. Thanks!
