Baby Embroidery

Hi, I'm new at machine embroidery and the proper use of stabilizers. I have a Brother PC-8500D machine and would like to know how best to use stabilizer for a baby's "onesie." I currently have tear-away, cut-away, cut-away plus and super solvy. I have Madeira rayon thread and brother polyester thread. The design will just be letters. Suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Paula

If the onsie has any stretch at all use 2 layers of iron on poly mesh and then just hoop some cutaway. On the top use some solvy so the stitches won't sink into the fabrice. When the design is finished just trim the backings close to the design. The result will be good because you have eliminated any movement in the fabric. Hope this helps, Nana

You will need to use polyester thread if there any chance it might be bleached. Rayon thread does not tolerate bleach.

Hi Susan, You read my mind! After I sent that I said to myself, I should have mentioned Poly threads.

Hi, Thanks for the info from both of you.

Okay, I'm "duh." I am not familiar with "poly mesh." Am assuming it is polyester something? Also, when you say "hoop some cutaway," should I use the spray adhesive with that?

I do have some books with stabilizer suggestions, but doesn't mention "onesies" in particular, so I appreciate your help!

Thanks,

Hi Paula, Polymesh is a newer product from OESD. I really like it. Plus when you are done you can cut around the design and reuse what is left. Yes, after you hoop the cutaway, spray it with 505 and place it where you need it. One more tip, make sure that the area is clear of all other parts of your onesie otherwise you will have a new Undershirt to give. Ask me how I know! I only did that ONCE!!! :-) Nana

The fusible polymesh can eliminate the adhesive spray
