I have Babylock's Palette Version 6 on my computer .. Does anyone know if Brother's PE Design version 7 upgrade can be used to upgrade the babylock software to version 7, or does one need to use the Palette version 7 upgrade?
me
(Own and using Singer PSW version 2.00A -&- Babylock Palette version
6.08 -&- Autodigitizing version 1... Help, I still need a dongle override patch for my Autodigitizing program, my dongle got ruined!)
Palette and PE Design are identical; your problem isn't any Brother/Babylock conflict, but ...
I thought that PE Design comes with a card reader, not a dongle ... but ...
You will have to replace your ruined dongle or card reader with a new one. This may take some serious negotiation with a dealer or the parent company (Brother or Babylock). It's highly unlikely (I estimate a 0% chance)that any dongle override patch that works on V6 would continue to work with V7.
The upgrade package does not include the necessary card reader, a full package does.
There seems to be some unintentional confusion here, (Maybe I confused things by having two entirely different issues in one post, perhaps?)... My reader-writer(dongle) for Babylock Palette Version 6 is fine (As is my reader-writer(dongle) for Singer PSW Version
2.00A)..
It is my Autodigitizing Version 1 dongle that has been destroyed, and that is the program I am looking for an dongle override/replacement patch for.
So...
1.) My Babylock Palette Version 6 is working fine. As it is my understanding that Palette and PE Design are more-or-less identical programs (other than the name displayed), so I was asking if I bought a Brother PE Design version 7 "upgrade", would it work correctly with my Babylock Palette version 6 "dongle" (reader/writer), or do I have to purchase a Babylock Palette version 7 upgrade? (In other words, are the Babylock and Brother programs truly identical to the point of working with each other's reader/writer ?)
2.) My (Inspira) Autodigitizing Version 1 dongle has been accidentially destroyed, and I need a dongle patch for this program so that I can use it again. Neither Inspira nor Husqvarna are supporting this software anymore at all.
In the past I've been able to use Palette patches on PE-Design with no problem. I can't vouch for the future, but they've been bit for bit identical. Why not use the Palette upgrade - Babylock tends to be less expensive than Brother for the same thing ... that's why we have the Babylock machine.
Sorry, can't help there. It's been completely discontinued. I do see used one on e-bay, in the box, with dongle, for a 'buy-it-now' price of US$150 and US shipping from Dallas TX of $25.
I do seem to remember that a dongle-free (cracked) version of Autodigitizing Version 4 was posted on alt.binaries.crafts.pictures
4-5 years ago. It wasn't Inspira, but name changes don't mean much. Whether this is the same as yours I don't know.
The Babylock Palette vs Brother PE Design upgrade: The reason I asked this question is precisely because of the widely varying pricing out there.. If I can get the Palette upgrade for less money than the PE Design upgrade, I will do precisely that. I am shopping completely online for this item, as we do not have a Babylock dealer here anymore at all, and even the nearest Brother dealer is 3-4 hours away (which makes getting my Esante serviced a real chore).
"Autodigitizing" was produced by Inspira for H.Viking. There were a total of 4 versions released. It is my understanding that the company (Inspira) broke up, and the main people involved have gone on to work on "Generations".
Why do I use so many different digitizing software packages? Probably because I can't decide which system I like best, so I keep investing money in different ones, hoping to find a clear winner.
