I'm looking to upgrade my embroidery machine and was wondering if anyone has used or owns the Artista 200E by Bernina? If so what is your opinion? I like the idea that this machine works with CD's and not floppies. I have a feeling that future computers won't even have floppy drives in them. The machines I'm considering are the Husqvarna Design 1, Pfaff 2144 or the Artista. If anyone has any advice on this decision I would love to hear it!

I have a 200. I use my laptop to send the designs to the machine for stitchout. The CD is a pain. It will only read ART format. The CD's that are put out by Bernina will ONLY be read by the CD player. In the latest update they made it possible to read ART format CD that you burned yourself. You are unable to save these designs and once you alter them you can only keep them in the machine. Otherwise I love the 200, I just wish that Bernina did not treat us like we are design pirates. i have a pfaff 2140, which is almost the same as the 2144. (the 2144 has a fancier thread cutter and bobbin winder; it's also a different color). i've never had a problem with it and love the built in walking foot. the feet are relatively inexpensive when compared to bernina. my dealer leaves much to be desired, but the pfaffvip group at yahoo provides prompt and detailed answers to both mechanical and software questions. i'd buy it again, which says a lot. pfaff provides free comprehensive updates and in the last year has added 20 new stitches as well as several new functions. i've used all kinds of threads and prewound bobbins and haven't had problems with any of them.
