Brother Embroidery Design Card No. 54--Teapots

I recently purchased this card, and wow---it really has some great stuff on it. I do have a few questions, though.

First, I noticed on the design sheet, two different icons. One is a spool of thread pointing to a design. The other is the embroidery machine with a hoop in it. Does the spool of thread mean that I have to use a specific thread? It's for just one design. Does the embroidery machine icon mean that I need to use a larger hoop? If so, could I use the large hoop for a Brother PE150 or do I have to get a different hoop?

I also received in the package what appears to be transfers (vellum paper with pictures) for the teacups. There appears to be no directions with them, so has anyone used them before and with what size hoop? Are they iron-on transfers?

Finally, Designs No. 40 and 41 are combined squares with the words Teapot, cookies, muffin, etc. at the top of pictures surrounded by borders. Design No. 40 has six squares, no 41 has four. Could I use half of these or a specific one?

Thanks for your help.

The vellum paper is a template and the pictures of the machine tells you which machine you can use the design on. Generally they are larger than average designs suitable for machines with larger hoops. You can use a newer larger hoop on the pe150 so you can join a design by splitting or do a

2 part design. I have a 3,000 machine and a PE300S (4" limit). Generally you match the spool colour of thread to the hoop on Brother machines and I think PE150 was green.

Thanks for clarification. How would I use this? It's a long sheet, with several designs on it. Do I iron it onto fabric?

and the pictures of the machine tells you

I don't see any difference here; the picture isn't big enough to show whether it's a 3000, a PE300S or otherwise. It's just a drawing of one.

You can use a

Thank you. I understand now that I can make a double design and not have to rehoop. But I was wondering if the design that has the machine icon next to it can be used by the PE

150 and the extra large hoop. This design only appears on the color chart slip in the disk envelope; it doesn't appear in the window on the machine.

This is a great tip! You're right; the hoop is green, therefore the bobbin thread needs to have a green spool, and it does. I was hoping you might have used this same card and could look at it and clarify for me what the pictures mean. The question about the spool pointing to the picture doesn't relate to bobbin thread, as I've been using the same bobbin thread on my machine, and why would it be just this one design if it was a bobbin thread issue?

No its merely a template for sizing and useful for positioning your designs if you have no software. Some of the designs on this card are 137 kb and are 4 1/2 " x 6.87" and will only be able to be sewn out on the larger machines hence the picture of the different size screens on the card information. There are one or two Brother cards which can be stitched out on a 2 position hoop and I think one is flowers No. 14 but I would have to check. Liz

Yes, the two or three position hoop is used for the Brother card that is all flowers. I am using it now, and it is awesome. Does take a little maneuvering, and practice runs. Of course, it is too big to Save in memory on my Esante, so once started you don't shut your machine off.
