craafty george's prices

Hi, everyone,

I am doing initial research for embroidery machines (including local dealers and used machines), and wondered if anyone here has asked George in Las Vegas about his prices for the following machines. I hate to call and start asking him, because I get the BIG sales pitch and I am timid on the phone (timid and George don't go well together). I'd like to know what he has before I call, so I don't feel so walked all over. I'm a satisfied customer of both my local dealer and George; I'm just at the price research phase right now.

Has anyone gotten quotes from him (or bought) any of the Brother embroidery machines? I'm looking at them all, from the PE150 and 180 to the Pooh 400 to the PCs and the ULTs. If anyone knows how much he charges for these, I would be most grateful if you wouldn't mind sharing the info.

I'm open to other embroidery machines, too, if anyone has a favorite. I've heard negative things about the lower-level Singers and mixed reports about both the Designer 1 and the Bernina/artista.

Researching an embroidery machine is so overwhelming. I wish there were a web page with samples of the same design stitched out with all the available machines, so you could do a "prettiness" comparison side by side of them all. Is the embroidery quality of the ULTs much better-looking than the embroidery quality of the 150, for example?

Does he carry any of the boxes or the software design packages, and is he cheaper than ebay? Out of curiosity, has anyone bought one of the big Horn/Regal sewing cabinet things from him?

Thanks for any information. I like his prices, but he intimidates the heck out of me.

I do believe that if you buy a machine from George, it comes with HIS warranty and not the "Brother" warranty. So if you have problems with the machine, you have to ship it to George.

I was told that Brother does not give warranty for any machines purchased on the internet. However, if you buy from an authorized Brother dealer, then any Brother dealer will honor the warranty.

I don't know if George is an "Authorized Brother Dealer". Anyone, please correct me if I'm wrong.... I would like to know also.

I own both the Bernina Deco 650 embroidery only and the Artista 200E. They are both great. The quality of the embroidery is great. I love the on screen editing and the ability to send it back and forth to my laptop for editing. They are both workhorses. JMHO, Nana

I bought a Brother 8500 a couple of years ago from George. I was a little worried so instead of giving him my charge card numbers I went to the bank and wired them money to him and paid the extra to have it shipped overnight. The machine was packaged in the original box, did not appear to have ever been opened. There was a warranty card enclosed. I have never had any problems with my machine so I wouldn't be able to help you out on the warranty work. Yes you are right, George is a very aggressive seller. Just decide what you are willing to pay and go with that. I have learned from talking to him on several occasions, the item that you are inquiring about is always the last one he has, and the longer you are on the phone with him the better the deal gets.

Good Luck.
