If you are wanting subdued tone on tone is lovely. You could do lace or if she loves horses so much farm scenes or blue horses.
What are her interests after horses? Do something with that.
Maybe try some Southwest designs, boots, flowers, similar things? Or a horseshoe peeking out of a pocket (pocket topper). Would you mind telling me how you embroider on denim shirts? I am about to try my first one. TIA
