Embroidering on Screens

I have just returned from a 6 week long trip but before I left, I saw instructions for embroidering on screens but now I can't find them. Does anybody on this list have them or can point me to a site where I can get them? Thanks.

Did you still need some information on this? What kind of screens are you talking about? Pet Screen, fiberglass screen or the good old fashioned aluminum window screens?

It's pet screen and I've already broken two needles. I definitely still need help!

I've done pet screen without using any special needles. I bought a box of 100 Bernina brand needles size 80/12 last year some time and use them for just about everything. I was told they were made my Schmitz. The pet screen I used was made of fiberglass.

Here is how I did it. I hooped tear away stabilizer. I laid the screen down on top of the hoop and basted it in place. Because the stitches tend to sink into the holes of the mesh I placed a layer of water soluble stabilizer on top of the screen. That was it, and then I stitched away, no special thread and no need to slow down my machine. When it was done I removed as much of the stabilizer as possible and then wet the top stabilizer to remove any excess.

I don't know why your needles are breaking, what brand of machine do you have? Can you stitch through the hem of a pair of jeans with ease? Being short that is my acid test for any good sewing machine in my house. If I can't hem my jeans the machine is not good to me no matter how many fancy designs it can stitch.
