Embroidery Software Scam

I mostly just lurk here, but I wanted to inform you about a scam on Ebay.

I recently purchased SmartSizer Gold on Ebay. The software arrived, but it was in an envelope with a SmartStitch cover. It did have the correct CD, but appears to be pirated. There was no registration number or authorization code, making the software useless. I have tried repeatedly to contact the seller without any luck. I discovered yesterday that 13 other people have been scammed by this person.

I am pursuing this through legal channels, as is another person who was scammed. The seller's name is GLULU, so please be careful. Of course, they have probably created another user name, but all 14 scams have been for embroidery software.

Just wanted everyone to know.

Same person is still selling. No software right now, but CDs full of copyright-violating designs.

is not that much more than your scammer charged. No connectionother than a satisfied customer. BTW, thanks for the warning. Sorry for your loss. At least now there's sufficient negative feedback to warn the wary, though I see some of the less wary are still bidding on these obviously bad news auctions. Forget Barnum, by now there appear to be at least 10 born every minute.

Unfortunately this has been going on since the inception of e-bay. There are dozens of sellers engaging in this type of transaction but ususally there is a registration number provided or a generator so not many of the buyers complain. Also the companines are no longer persuing the prosecution of these individuals. It is just way too expensive. Every pattern you share, every magazine you lend, is a violation of copyright, and we all have to reach our own moral level on what we will tolerate. E-bay needs to get tough, but being tough costs money. After over a year I am still involved in trying to recover money lost to an unscrupulous seller. Seeno1 is his ID. By listing the perps ID's we at least get to know the bad ones. Good luck on your case.

I looked him up. Anybody who sells an item for 1 cent then charges $42.00 shipping ought to give any bidder pause. It's called fee avoidance, and if he'll cheat Ebay of their listing fee, he'll cheat you, too.

Best advice I know is, read the feedback, especially negatives. Anybody can pick up one, maybe a couple of negs. There's always somebody who will never be satisfied. But more than that, or a history of shifting IDs after a number of naegatives build up is a big warninig sign.

Good Luck

The sad part is that I wanted the software for a project for my Compassionate Friends group. (CF is a support group for parents of deceased children) I decided to treat myself to the software since my child won't be here for Mother's Day. Now I have no software, no Mother's Day gift, and no money to repurchase. Big fat bummer!!

and find out how to file fraud charges. Not only do you have a good chance of getting your money back, but the seller may have to satisfy a court.

Have you complained to Ebay? Have you advised your CC company? Have you tried having the charges reversed, lodged a complaint with the police since A: This is fraud, false advertising and it went thru the US postal system.

So sorry to hear that you lost a child. What a horrible thing to experience.

My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I have good news. I received notice today that PayPal has recovered all but one dollar of my money. I feel so relieved. Although it happened to

13 other people, I felt so foolish for getting "taken" like this.

Losing a child is the worst tragedy a human being has to endure. I keep myself busy by sewing. I have decided that I really like decorating my house every month. For the month of May I found lots of blue fabric with butterflies. Blue was my son's favorite color and butterflies are the symbol for a deceased child. My intention was to get the software so I could keep myself busy Mother's Day and his birthday.

Thank you all for your comments and suggestions. It really helped to have a supportive audience without criticism or ridicule.

I got caught in something like this with Dress Shop. I emailed Annette (owner) right away. She told me I was not alone in this and it was being handled by an investigator from the Post Office as this is considered mail fraud. I spent a week in Crescent City, CA about 1.5 years ago testifying against the man who had perpetrated this scam.

Feel free to email me privately if you would like more information on how to turn this person in.
