Embroidery websites

Okay, now I've bought my Ultimate Box and have it installed. I'm anxious to get started downloading embroidery files and would like to know which website you may use to download files and why you like that one from the others. I've been looking at Embroidery.DK, embroidery.com, and Secrets of Machine Embroidery. Which one of these do you prefer, and if you don't, do you have a special one and why?

There are hundreds if not thousands of embroidery websites. All websites that sell designs usually offer some (sometimes lots) of free designs to download. Everyone I've talked with surfs all or almost all the sites.

That site has thousands of free downloads and a huge links page. It's a good place to start. Do google searches. Check out other usenet groups.

Make a folder on your hard drive to download all the files to. Then you may want to make sub folders to sort them (ie: christmas, animals, flowers etc) You will end up with LOTS of designs.

Have fun

One word of caution: When downloading from annthegran, if you don't recognize the name of the digitizer as a "pro" be sure to stitch out a test before starting on something valued. The quality runs the gamut.

to the list......nothing over $10.00, and all their designs are excellently digitized.......NAYY.......just love their stuff!

Yes I absolutely recommend a practice stitch out. I've deleted some designs from my database due to poor digitizing. OESD and Brother's designs are the only ones I'd (so far) try without a stitch out. Even then I'm nervous.

Thanks, Pat. This is exactly what I'm looking for--a suggestion on a site you are happy with and why.

I have created folders on my hard drive (used to teach Computer Science to adults and have a tendency to be "anal" about organization...) and labeled them accordingly. I was looking to see if anyone had any experience with embroidery.dk and how they found that paying $5.00 a month (nominal fee for what you get) was working for them.

I've been a member of Embroidery.dk for several months and I have found it well worth it. All the designs I've sewn out from the site have been well digitized and sewed out nicely. And it's great fun to get up Saturday morning and check out the new designs for the week!
