Freehand machine embroidery

I am curious, am I correct or not. I have read quite a few messages on this group, I get the impression that it is only if you have a computerised sewing machine. It is not for free hand on the machine. I have been doing my City & Guilds Machine Embroidery learning lots of new techneqiues on the sewing machine. I do have a Brother Galaxie 2100, but had to go and buy a PFAFF so that I could manually change the tensions, plus the bobbin goes in sidways so I could use very thick thread in the bobbin. Please let me know if I am on the wrong group.

Best wishes

Jean

Hj Jean (and all) Im new here too. Im reading, trying to deside which embroidery machine I want to purchaceafter we get done with my 2 sons birthdays. I have a 20 year old simplicity that does quite a bit, but it rattles and complains all the time. For just straight sewing I have a beautiful treadle singer with the honey comb box and Cleopatra laying across the top of the machine in gold. That is the one I learned to sew on as well as My Mom, her Mom etc, etc, I would like to try Free Hand embroidery like you, Jean so, Tell me how it works. Any advice on diffrent machines would be nice. Has anyone tryed the Elna Xquexit? Or however you spell that. How about the Brother Ult Or the Babylock?I like some things on the Artista and a few on the Pfaff. I can't even find a dealer for the Elna and I really like the way that bobbin works on their web site. I used to do stain glass work but since I was involved in a hit and run on the highway which left me with a broken back and neck I still have a desire to be creative and I think Machine embroidery will be my good friend. Thank you, Vickie

Hi, I have the Bernina 200E and the Deco 650 (stand alone) They are both great, Reliable, quiet and they both do a terrific job. The 200 is faster and has more options like on screen abilities, import, saving right on the machine. It also has a bigger field than the 650. Just take lots of test drives and ask lots of questions and make sure you like the dealer as far as service, classes and attitude. HTH Linda
