Help!! Disappearing Ink not disappearing on gift for tomorrow!

Anyone with a suggestion on how to get this out? It's purple, and of course is the first thing you see on a shirt I just put a design on the front of. My husband "marked" the center in two places, both incorrect, so now we have two big purple x's. It says disappearing ink, but it's not even fading after several hours. Any suggestions greatly appreciated!

I haven't used the purple stuff. I prefer the blue that comes off with water. Did you iron it? I heard that iron will set the ink.

There is a thing called a marker eraser on the market.....I got mine from Nancy's Notions in the US......or I might try dabbing it with a damp cloth......test it on something..

I have a purple marking pen too. It will probably disappear overnight. That's what happened with interfacings I marked with the pen. I thought it might have become permanent when they were still there a few hours later but it eventually disappeared completely. If you do anything, don't iron it!

  1. DON'T IRON IT! Heat can set the ink.

  1. Spritz it with water.

  2. Don't iron it until it's been through the washer: just spritzing it will make it disappear but it's still there and ironing it can bring it back permanently.

My favourite marking pen is a Berol Handwriting pen, available from all stationers over here at about £1. It's washed out of everything I've tried it on so far, even after it's been ironed, but you should test it before you go ahead.

Did you iron over it? Some disappearing ink stays for minutes, some for days, and if you iron it, some forever! :(

If it hasn't been ironed, place it in good daylight out of the sun for a while and see if it goes.

The package on my extra pen says use hydrogen peroxide. Works great, but so does water most of the time. When it doesn't I use H2O2.

A good amount of water usually gets rid of the mark but I also read recently that water with a little bicarbonate of soda dissolved in it is very effective. It is gentle enough to test on most fabrics! HTH Ros
