HELP RE GOLF

Hi are there any Golf fanatics ( or family members) Ive been asked to make some golf club covers??? and a golf wash towel, I assume to wipe his clubs wit. Does anyone know what they are and how big to make a cloth. Would fleece be ok for the covers? do they need to be waterproof? sorry to ask so much but haven't got any one who plays. all feedback gratefully recieved, also like the mobile phone covers/teddies in a hoop are there any of these things made in the hoop that anyone knows about?? TIA

I know very little about the golf game, but one DS, DSIL,DD and one DGS play. In fact, the DGS became a member of his school's varsity team when he was in 8th grade. Many of their club covers are of fleece, but can be made of any fabric. I don't know any reason they would need to be waterproof, none of DS's are. Almost all of his are fleece, given to him as a gift with the name of the brand of clubs embossed on them. The golf towel is hung on the bag while they're playing. They use the towels to wipe the clubs off while playing if the clubs get wet, as in morning dew, or covered with too much dirt. They can be used to wipe the golfer's hands in case of necessity. I bought some to monogram, they are the size of a guest hand towel, about 10-12 inches in width and 16-18 inches in length, and usually has a 1 inch grommet to clip it onto the golf bag. If there is no grommet, they can be fastened to the bag with a small clip. Hope this is helpful. Emily

Hi there, How about making them the shape kind of like a Christmas stocking? Leave some of the side seam open with velcro closure. Just experiment for sizes. Hope this helps. Nana

I am a golf fanatic!!! Love the game and make towels for friends. A good quality hand towel will be fine....the more it can absorb, the better. Many colors are available with grommets, but if you are matching something just get the color you need, then sew a metal ring about 1 or 1/25 inches in diameter to one of the top corners.

Head covers is another matter.........they certainly can be fleece, a double thickness would be nice.....upside down Christmas description is pretty good......get a golf club---a driver if the covers are for woods......They need to be about a foot long if the shafts on the clubs are made of graphite. Make the top part generous, and the long part big enough that it slides easily over the head of the club.

Waterproof is not necessary, but very strong stitching----stretch stitch if you can do it is important.....these will be put on and off like a sock pulled from the top. I have some whimsical covers that were made of men's tube socks, if that helps any.........glad to answer any questions.

Maybe you can see them well enough to copy? I don't know about findingany that could be completed in the hoop, but you could certainly embroidersomething on before sewing them up. Good luck with your project.
