help with software

Can anyone tell me what software I need to put designs onto Janome 10,001 machine, different people are telling me different. I don't want expensive software if possible as I already have Brother pe design. I know I can't use that. Prefer direct link from lpatop to machine if possible. If not what card do I need and what is the thing I put it in, don't want card reader writer box Liz

The physical means of getting a design to your sewing machine should be fully covered in its manual. You HAVE read it, haven't you ;)

You CAN use PE Design - if it doesn't allow you to "save as" in Janome's format, just add a file conversion utility.

Your dealer can also help.

G'day Liz

I sent this reply yesterday but notice it hasn't appeared so am resending it.......hope it helps?

To add to Herb's suggestion....Embird will convert to jef format and it's reasonably priced. 30 day or 100 use free trial too. Once you have converted your designs, just plug the cable from notebook to machine and away you go.

Your other option (besides a card reader) is a CF card, the smallest capacity the better, 8Mb or 16Mb are good if you can get them, then slot the CF card into a CF to PCMCIA adaptor, now insert this into the machine so it can add the relevant folders, remove from the machine and insert into the PCMCIA slot on your notebook, copy the designs to the card putting them into one of the Embxx folders, remove from notebook and insert CF and PCMCIA adaptor into the slot on your machine. Too easy!!

This is how I do it all the time on both my 10k and 9500, have never bothered with direct connection but always have the design opened in Embird so I can sort thread colours. Each of the folders can hold 100 designs, but the more stored on the card the slower the machine is to read them, so I only keep a few on each card at any one time and prefer to have several cards, that way I can be copying designs to another card while the first one is stitching away happily.

You can use a USB memory stick, CF card with ATA adapter, USB CD drive, and a USB connection to your computer to get designs to the MC11000.

As for the MC10000 and MC10001, there was a program called Easy Transfer that would let you transfer designs to the machine. My memory is fuzzy, but I believe ET was integrated into later versions of Customizer 10000.

As Herb mentioned, probably the easiest way to get designs to the MC10001 is to use a CF card and ATA adapter.
