How to divide a design please look inside

How do you divide a design by parts if it has to many colors? I use embird but have to convert designs to format for singer psw and it doesn't take designs that has more than 15 colors so how can I divide it example:moon and stars in one file and the cow jumping over it in another or outline in one file color & fills in another?

any info will be very appreciated wether it is for the singer psw software or the embird.

TIA sewso

If you split a design just because it has too many colors, and not because it is too big for the hoop, the easiest thing would be to make both parts of your design of exactly the same size. If they are exactly the same size, the centers of both parts would be the same, so you wouldn't have to reposition when embroidering the second part. So what you should do is: Split your design after the 15th color. Then add single stitches to both parts so they become equally sized (these stitches can be removed easily afterwards; or you can give them a different color in Embird, and then when embroidering, skip this color). Example: you have a 2-part design. The topmost position of the first part has an Y-coordinate of 38.7. The second part's topmost position is 41.2. Now you would add a stitch to the first part at the Y-coordinate 41.2 (The X-value is not very important, place it somewhere in the middle). Continue to do this on all 4 sides. Hope this helps, Sylvia

I had the Singer xl1000 and I know one of the programs automatically divided the design when it hit the max amount of colors. Trouble is I don't know if it was in the Singer software or Buzz Tools. I just did try to convert a pes design with 20 colors to xxx in Embird and when the warning popped up about the colors I told it to go ahead with the conversion. It looked OK to me. I think that in your software or machine the 20 colors will be separated into 2 designs. I know that when I did it I always made sure to check the box "center in hoop" just to be safe. I would open one file stitch out the design and then open the second file as soon as I was finished fithe the last color in the first. I sure hope this makes sense! Mary
