I have a singer embroidery machine and would like to design my own embroidery designs using PE Design 6.0. Does anyone know if you can run PE Design 6.0 without a card reader/writer attached to your computer. If I have to buy one does anyone know where the best prices are on the web. Thanks for your help.

You can definitely run PE without a card reader attached (I've done it).
Depending on your machine, you will need a reader / writer to copy your newly created design to your machine.
When I was using PE, I would do all my work on a PC then write to the card when I was ready to start the machine up.
*I've been using the Magic Box to write cards and it has worked fine for me.By the way, you can usually get great deals through eBay on the readers.
reader? I currently have version 2 and the writer that came with it. I'm hoping that you can just change the cable to usb but don't want to spend £50 unless it will work.

If you are talking $50 for PE Design 6 it's of course pirate software. If you are comfortable with using that, don't buy it, get it for free, because that is what the person selling has done. That person has downloaded it without paying one cent for it, so charging $50 for it is a great deal for the seller, not the buyer! It will most likely not work with the old card writer. You would have to keep the old version installed as well. You cannot open PE Design files made in PE Design in previous versions without saving them "downgraded" to old formats.

This may sound double standard but if a person pirates a copy of software for his/her own use that is one morality.
If a person pirates software and sells it for their own profit, not only depriving the originator of their royalties but making a profit from the crime then I feel it is dispicable.
Do not support this behaviour. Steal your own copy.
