I'd e-mail Janome software support on that one. I do know Digitizer 10000 runs on XP although some of the dll files are rather old so I erased them and just rely on the ones in the Windows/System folder. So far so good. Maybe they'll offer you a "cheap" upgrade. That damn USB dongle on 10000 is a pain in the arse though since I move between machines in the house a lot. Gawd I hate that thing!

you are not kidding ALL dongles are a pain in the rear! I really need to get a new pc and would like to go for a laptop so I can take it nearer to the machine and I am currently trying out all the software that I cant live without and if I cant get it working on xp then the laptop is out for me! I was just hoping that maybe some one has found a way,I dont ant to go to ANY expense to upgrade my software just because i want to upgrade my pc. I have seen that Janome do a service update to win 2000 BUT not xp, my mate says that some progs have to be installed on xp as win

2000 so that may be worth a try Jnaome d>I'd e-mail Janome software support on that one. I do know Digitizer 10000

IF you buy your Laptop from a reputable dealer you have every right to ask him to install your old Win 98. If he wont,, contact Janome and they will give you a patch to make it work with XP. I had the same problem with my dongle after reformatting my computer. My dongle refused to be recognised and the Janome head office here actually sent me a CD with the patch on it and it now all works fine. WW

Here's a thought. Maybe you could partition your laptop's hard drive and install Win 98 in the other partition? I know one of the updates to Win 98 (SP-2?) had support for USB so the damn dongle may work. There are USB to Serial converter cables. Belkin makes for around $30. I need to use it as my laptop doesn't have a serial port or parallel either.

If it (i.e. Digitizer 2000) runs on Windows 2000, I don't see why it wouldn't work on XP. Maybe you could try it. If it doesn't, and the upgrade to Digitizer 10000 is out of the question, then partitioning may be a cheaper alternative and running some software like System Commander to switch operating systems.

Just a thought...

Thanks for the advice everyone looks like the only thing to do is to try and get hold of that win2000 update and try that, I asked my dealer yesterday and he has never heard of it, and he is in the same boat as me at the minute as he is now looking to replace his laptop and he didnt have any idea that it wouldnt work with it, guess poeple that have bought the software since XP has been out have bought the

10000 so no one has had that problem yet! so I will have to wait and see if he can get that win2000 update from Janome its s a shame they think its too big for download i read that its only around 20 mg. I really dont want to be getting a new lap top and mesing around with it changing operating system.... and I really cant afford to loose software that I use and have no intention of spending hundreds to replace something I already have!
