Excellent Connie! I love the lace designs!

I've been kind of hiding in the background of this newsgroup, not wanting to 'direct it', in anyway (there is no official 'owner' of "alt" newsgroups.)

I am the person who jumped through the hoops to get this newsgroup up and running on Usenet, years ago. I haven't been real active with embroidery (Singer EU) for a while, but check here from time to time and just smile at how active the newsgroup has become. Way beyond my expectations!

I see a need for a FAQ here and would enjoy putting that together for everyone and reposting it every so often for newbies. An FAQ can help newbies find free designs, conversion programs, popular sources for thread, needles, etc. to help them get started.

So here's my request.....please email me privately at snipped-for-privacy@pacifier.com with your ideas, URL's to freebies or supply sources, etc. that I can use to develop the FAQ. I'm willing to update the FAQ for everyone as time goes on. But remember, this is an open forum and no one is officially 'the owner, boss, director'.

ConnieD- can that be you from RCTQ? There has been a ConnieD from the UK posting there for quite a few years. Quite a humorous one too:)

Hi Debbi- good to see you here too!! I wonder how many RCTQ members we have here?? Lurking perhaps? If we took a count, it might be interesting to know how many sewing machines we have collectively! And my stash for quilting is only the beginning of every other type of stash! There seems to be no end.

Unlurking to say that combining quilting and machine embroidery is great fun... I have a Janome MC4000 and a Kenmore 19001 which sometimes are sewing in tandem across from each other on my kitchen table (I sew while the 19001 is embroidering) plus the internet provides online friendly groups with sew much information and helpful tips and more free embroidery designs than we can likely ever use! Reading this and rctq plus several Yahoo lists can be time consuming but also very informative about techniques and tools/notions for my stitching passions so I try to balance my time between them and working part time... not easy as I'm sure most can agree. Back to lurking...

Gosh, there are more RCTQ members here than I realized!! I have been addicted to all forms of sewing since probably being 10 years old- now that's a long time ago. Balancing all this is no small task, and I work full time plus some in my own bakery. I have learned to combine embroidery with my quilts and also some garments that I make, and also just plain on anything I can embroider:))) It is great fun, and a stress reliever, until I get too many projects going at once.

The great thing with these ng is that you always seem to find answers to the many questions that always come up. And I am amazed at the knowledge that people have with these various projects.

So great to see you all here.
