Looking for design software.

Hello,

I am looking for software to make my own embroidery designs. It has to work with the Bernina 180D. I also want to know what kind of cable I most use to upload the designs to the machine. Is this a 1 on 1 pinned connection, or must I use a crossed pinned cable.

Thanks, Sjef.

Pse, let me know. snipped-for-privacy@hotmail.com

Only the Bernina software will save in ART format. To get the designs to the machine. You can simply use a standard cable available at any computer shop. I started out with the ARTLINK program. You can't digitize with it, but you can get quite a few free demo designs from the internet in ART format and then download directly to the machine

I don't think you can hot wire your machine to the computer. Janome is the only one I know, it has USB. (I have a 10001, it is the most used machine due to this feature!).

You need to program a smart card. I think the 180D is a clone of a brother machine. Try doing searches for Brother, PE 150 or PE 180.

When you are done your research, can you tell me which media format it uses? I get a lot of requests for my designs in PES for it.

Oh, of course you can't hotwire a machine. I meant a USB cable, but couldn't think of the name of the darn thing. I have a Bernina 180E and it connects directly to the computer through a cable. I then purchased the Bernina Artlink software to use to send the designs to my machine. This is a straight connection (No dongle required)

However for their other software that is used for digitizing...you will need the dongle that comes with it.

There are many programs for digitizing software, but only the Artista software will save into the Bernina ART format.
