Not so much spam as advertising I think>

Actually this guy, Michael Dooney has been around for some time now. I do not mind the ads this is a list for machine embroidery. Michael's birds are wonderful and he is very approachable. When I needed some that were compatible with my smaller hoop area he was very helpful. Not sure who Janice and James are but I suspect Michael knows nothing about this hit.

And the difference is... ;->

Is there a posting FAQ for this group? Other sewing groups I subscribe to do not allow ads, but I don't know what the rules are here.

If you are correct, then I apologize. I was suspicious, because it appeared here *twice*, posted by two "different" people, (Janice and James, both with the snipped-for-privacy@yahoo.com.au address) and "Janice" also hit the rec.crafts.textiles.sewing group which does *not* allow ads. Oops!

The Ads no Ads has been hashed out before. I don't mind an update or a link to new stuff. Sometimes it is the only lead I get that there is something worthwhile out there. Newsgroups are a loose type of venue, so just about anything can and does occasionally happen. We take it in stride normally and the hit and vanish types usually gone as soon as they post. WE have had some really doosies here on occasion. As there is no moderator to control what is posted the delete key is your friend. Moderated groups do tend to stay on topic more but then you do not get the friendship that is prevalent here.

G'day all

Well for once I was thankful for the link because I wasn't aware of Michael's designs, so I emailed and was sent the most magnificent looking Blue Wren freebie which I can't wait to stitch out when my machine arrives home from the workshop. Being a bird lover it's hard to get true-to-life designs and this one looks like it might fall into that category.

Constant ads are a bit over the top but occasional ones such as this are informative. Thanks to James or Janice......does it really matter who he/she is??

Just my 2 cents worth! Br> The Ads no Ads has been hashed out before. I don't mind an update or

I think ads or no ads doesn't mean a HOB (hill of beans) because every unmoderated group can receive anything any person chooses to post. FAQ can set the style, but we'll always be hit up by the thoughtless selfish wannabe money grabbers. That's just the way USEnet has been from the start. We have a choice - get upset, or ignore it & move on. Getting upset only hurts ourself....

(my 2 cents...)

I have seen much worse spam than this so why bother to post about it.

I am very careful myself NOT to spam and I have been accused of it I do try not to as i walk a fine line between educating and promoting but again! I get MUCH worse spam elsewhere and on this list

Sincerely Fred

We don't suffer from that much spam in this group and.

1) as long as it is subject related 2) the quantity is low 3) there is some freebies or other good information included. 4) Nothing can be done about it anyway (excpet by consciencious ISPs)

who cares?

We all now you have a not so hidden agenda here Fred but so what? You give out information to the best of your knowledge and help people. You interact with people and are not just a spam bot. The signal to noise ratio is low.
