Men's undershirt / tshirt

I embroidered a design around the collar of a man's white undershirt / tshirt. Ladies tshirts are expensive and I like the feel of the lighter cotton men's tshirts. I was wondering if anyone does this or am I the odd one? I wear the embellished tshirt tucked in jeans... I forget the brand, its the tagless logo. The only problem is that the collar stretches slightly due to the embroidery. Since it's a v-neck, I take a patch where the v joins and overlap it and sew over it so the v is sharper. I use a cutaway stabilizer under the collar when sewing. Any suggestions technique or otherwise?

The tagless undershirt brand is Hanes -- I can see the Jackie Chan commercial for it as I type :-). Try spray starching the neck area of the t-shirt where you will stitch before you get started. I make t-shirt quilts and this helps a lot. Even tho' I put iron on innerfacing on the t-shirt before cutting the blocks out, it is still a bit stretchy and rather flimsy. The spray starch is just the ticket to keep it more firm. If you try it, let us know how it works please. CiaoMeow >^;;^< . Not a response to your question, but a related item from today's (24 Nov

2003) New York Times, Metropolitan Diary:

"Dear Diary I recently went into Macy's at Herald Square to take advantage of a bra sale. Not seeing a directory near the entrance, I went over to the information booth and asked the woman at the counter to please tell me where I could find women's underwear. With a disdainful look, she said, "Men wear underwear; women wear lingerie." (Which, I now know, is on the sixth floor.)
