needing help with a ruffle

I'm guessing here that the thread that is breaking is the bobbin threads you are pulling to gather the ruffle. If so, try using *topstitching* or *buttonhole-twist* thread in the

*bobbin*, loosen the needle thread tension, and increase the stitch length to 7-6 stitches-per-inch. And I always sew two gathering stitches, the first just outside the seam allowance, the second 1/4" away in the seam allowance.

You will do better with answers to general sewing questions in alt.sewing, but if this really was a machine embroidery question, my apologies for misunderstanding.
