patches

I've been embroidering some patches in small quantities for friends using a method I came up with. I hoop heavy tear away, sew a line border on the tear away as a positioner, cut the fabric using a printed pattern, use spray adhesive to attach the fabric patch, sew the patch, and sew the zig zag border last. While it works fine, it's very slow in finishing the patch to a professional look. The commercial patches I've seen have what seems to be a fused backing (slick like iron on glue) and no rough edge like a stabilizer has been torn away. Anybody familiar with what the commercial guys use? I've been asked to do several hundred and I don't want to do them the way I've been doing. tia Jim

Hi Jim, You might try a product called Badgemaster. It is a thick clear stabilizer. That is what the pros use. You can find it on the net or in SM stores. Good Luck! Nana
