PE5 Layout & Editing Help Needed

I used Layout & Editing to create a file with text. But, when I go to stitch it out, the thread keeps breaking and the underside is a horrible mess! What do I need to do to correct this? I suspect I should reduce the stitch density, but have no idea what density I should be using (or how to figure it out).

Any thoughts/observations most appreciated.

Don't use PE-Design to create embroidery, including text, files of any kind?

Brother actually have a half-decent program called BES that is up to about version 2.1 & available to download from their website. You will find a crack/patch for it about the net. It is great for creating & editing true type text. Not so good for other digitising stuff - but text, great.

Most defaults I have seen for stich density are about 0.4mm & these usually work fine. Have you stiched on this material before? Are your needles still sharp? Is the backing material suitable for the fabric you are stiching? Have you used the thread before & know what it sews like?

Cheers.

No, I haven't stitched on this particular material before, but have stitched on similar.

Yes, it's a new needle and backing is correct. Yes, I've used this thread before.

Thank you for your comments.

What size is the lettering you generated, and are you using a very detailed font? I've used PED3-5 to generate lettering many times, and have found that fonts smaller than 1/2" are something I avoid. If you can, send the details and the font that you are using. Try setting the density (using PED terms to 100spi) and see if that helps.

If you read the text file it mentions about downloading a file from Brother - skip that, you have already done it :-)

Cheers.
