problem installing Bernina artista software...

My mother-in-law bought a new computer and I'm trying to transfer everything over from the old computer. I'm trying to install her Bernina artista software but can't install it in the new computer. The box says "for Windows 95" Does this mean that it won't install on the new computer that uses XP. If that's the case, will she have to buy new software?? Any responses is appreciated. Thank you, Jeeves

Check with Bernina to see if they have an update for your Artista software that will allow it to run on XP. Windows XP claims to be backwards compatible but I have found that in most cases it is not. Good Luck

I know that they have patches for their software, so that would be the best place to check.

Although I have not done it, I understand that on Windows XP you can also load Win95 and have the option of booting up and choosing your operating system. I'm still on WIN98, so I haven't had to do it yet.

Both previous responses give good suggestions. But you haven't said how it "won't install". Have you tried? If so, what message(s) did you get.

There is also a compatibility mode in XP; if the program installs but won't operate correctly, I think you right click on the icon and select properties. ONe of those properties says what version of windows you want to emulate for this application.
