Question about digitizing a font

I have PE Design 4 - trying to use a font that I just purchased (Dax Medium) for a logo. I just noticed that only my Truetype fonts show up when I want to insert text. Is there a way to use other fonts? Or is there a way to change this font so that I can use it in PE Design? I did try to use it as a bmp in Design Centre, but the text was hardly recognizable. I'm sure you can tell that I don't know much about fonts and I'm still pretty new to digitizing, but I sure would like to be able to do this. Thanks for any help. PS I also have Embird, but not sure if this would help.

Thanks for your great suggestions - I decided to try a similar font (Arial) and, sure enough, it's hard to tell that it's not Dax once it's done in embroidery, and only 3/8" high. I downloaded a trial version of Trans Type Pro and converted the alphabet, but since it's a demo, there were little 'add-ins' on some of the letters I needed. Looks like a good program, but certainly more than I would ever need. Thanks again for your help. Off to do a test sew-out.
